Taro is a low disc of solid travertine, wider than it is tall, weighted, quiet. The stone is left to be itself: the open pitting, the faint banding, the shift in tone across the surface are the material's own record, no two shades alike. Each piece is chosen with material as the first consideration - alabaster, marble, ceramic, brass, wood, ribbed and milk glass. Where safety or longevity calls for a different material, we use it sparingly, but natural materials lead.
