A turned disc of solid wood, held by a knurled brass fitting.

The shade is lathed into a wide, shallow form — its grain reading in concentric arcs across the surface. Warmth pools inside the bowl when lit, casting a soft glow downward while the brass socket adds a quiet patina at the crown. Two finishes are available: a pale natural wood and a deeper walnut-toned wood, each honest to the grain beneath.

The disc proportion is held carefully: wide enough to cast a generous shadow on the ceiling above, shallow enough that the grain remains the dominant surface. The knurled brass fitting does not overstate itself — it sits as a functional detail, honest about its role. Hung in pairs over a table or counter, the two wood tones read as a composed set without requiring symmetry.

Every Kiyoshiki piece is made to order, so small changes are often possible - plug-in wiring instead of hardwired (no electrician needed), a longer or shorter cable to suit your ceiling, or an alternative finish on selected pieces. Send us a message before you order and we'll confirm the details with the workshop. Most requests add little or nothing to the week lead time.

Bulbs are not always included. This lets you choose the color temperature and brightness that suits your space. Get in touch if you need guidance on the right bulb for a specific fixture.

Warmer tones (2700–3000K) produce soft, inviting light — well suited to living rooms and bedrooms. Cooler tones (4000K and above) are brighter and more energizing, better suited to kitchens and workspaces. Contact us if you'd like a recommendation for a specific room.

Each piece is chosen with material as the first consideration - alabaster, marble, ceramic, brass, wood, ribbed and milk glass. Where safety or longevity calls for a different material, we use it sparingly, but natural materials lead.

Lighting can be returned if unused, uninstalled, and in its original packaging within the timeframe outlined in our policy. Custom or made-to-order fixtures are final sale. Please refer to our returns page for full details.
