I hung the large Haru above our dining table and the room finally felt finished — not decorated, just right. The rattan throws the most beautiful pattern across the ceiling at night. Friends always ask about it. It made a room we used to rush through somewhere we actually want to stay.
The warmth that settles a room before anyone speaks.
Haru is formed from two honest materials working in concert: tightly wrapped hemp rope, wound in pleated layers that flare upward and outward, and a broad band of open-weave rattan cane at the centre. Light passes through the rattan lattice and glows amber through the rope, casting a web of soft shadow onto walls and ceilings. What was flat and functional becomes textured, settled, alive.
Hung above a kitchen island or a dining table, Haru draws people in. Guests notice the form before they can name it — something honest and unhurried in the room. That ease is yours to give them, and it is felt the moment the light comes on.
-
The layered hemp rope diffuses light downward in a warm, amber-toned glow that removes the harshness of overhead lighting.
-
The open rattan weave lets light breathe sideways, sending a pattern of soft shadows across walls and ceiling beams.
-
Three sizes allow a single piece to anchor a reading nook or a run of three to define a long kitchen island.
-
The natural tones — undyed hemp, pale rattan — hold their warmth against wood, stone, plaster and linen alike.
-
The adjustable cord means the proportion to table or surface can be set exactly right.
Haru is constructed from natural hemp rope and rattan cane — no synthetic substitutes. The shade is handmade by artisans working with these materials directly. Iron fittings are used at the canopy. LED bulbs are included. Three sizes are available; dimensions are listed below. The cord is adjustable to 59.1 inches (150 cm). Hardwired installation; a qualified electrician is recommended.
Haru pairs two materials that earn their place: hemp rope, wound in close pleated rows that catch and hold the warmth of a bulb, and an open rattan cane band that lets light pass through in a lattice of shadow. The stacked, layered proportion gives the form a quiet sculptural weight without bulk. It reads as considered whether it hangs alone over a reading chair or in a trio above a long island.
