I hung two Classic size Mayu Globes over our dining table and the room changed overnight. It had always felt like a place we just passed through. Now people pull their chairs in and stay. The silk catches the light in this quiet, uneven way that no other shade I've tried quite does. It was worth the wait.
Light held inside silk.
Mayu is formed from silk, knitted by hand into a softly organic globe — a tear-drop form that opens at the top where two curved panels part company along a flowing seam. Lit from within, the woven surface holds the warmth close: the glow spreads slow and even, amber at the heart and cream at the edge, with no hard line and no glare. A dining room that felt flat and functional becomes something gathered, settled — a place people want to stay at the table.
There is a particular satisfaction in a room where the light itself is worth noticing. Guests find their way to seats and stay. The conversation slows into the evening without anyone quite deciding to. That quality belongs to the person who made this choice — the one who understood that warmth is built from the material up.
-
The silk diffuses warmth through its weave: no glare, no cold centre, just an even amber glow across the table below.
-
The curved form casts gentle shadow where the two panels meet, giving the room something quiet to rest its eye on.
-
Three sizes let the same considered form scale from a modest dining table to a generous over-island drop.
-
The slim iron frame stays entirely behind the textile — what you see is silk and light, nothing else.
-
Two bulbs inside a single shade give a fuller, softer spread than a single-source pendant.
The shade is knitted from silk — a material with a natural, slightly irregular surface that is true to how it is made. The iron frame is slender and considered, present only to hold the form. Both sizes and the two included bulbs are confirmed in the spec below.
Mayu Globe is made to order. Allow a short lead time for yours to be made — it arrives ready to hang, with bulbs included.
Hand-knitted silk shade, iron frame. Three sizes: Ø 11.8" / 15.7" / 19.7". E26 bulb, 120V. Cord-mounted pendant; 2 × LED bulbs included.
Mayu Globe draws its form from a single organic gesture — two silk panels that curl toward each other, parting along a flowing seam to reveal the warmth inside. The knitted silk is the whole point: it holds the light within its weave and lets it through gradually, warm and without edge. The iron frame is present only as structure; proportionally, it disappears. Hung over a dining table or kitchen island in a pair, the form reads as sculpture at rest — considered without effort.
