I replaced the recessed downlight beside my bed with the Andriana and the room became somewhere I actually want to spend time. The alabaster glows rather than shines — it is warm and a little amber — and the ribbed surface looks like something considered, not just bought. The veining in the stone is different from what I expected and I find I notice it each morning.

The Andriana is turned from natural alabaster, its ribbed cylinder carved with horizontal bands that catch and soften the glow passing through the stone. Alabaster at this thickness becomes translucent — the veining visible, the warmth deep — and where a bare bulb or a flat ceiling fixture leaves a room feeling functional, this casts something closer to candlelight: amber, diffuse, settled.
Hung beside a bed, it turns the hour before sleep into something you look forward to.
