I'd been staring at that kitchen island for two years, never quite happy with it. The moment Taro went up the whole surface changed — it wasn't just light, it was warmth. The travertine has this particular quality, sandy and pitted, and it pulls every natural material in the room toward it. Guests always ask about it first.

A room that was flat, now settled.

Taro is a low disc of solid travertine, wider than it is tall, weighted and still. The stone's natural pitting, faint banding, and tonal drift across the surface are left intact — the material's own record, honest and unhurried. Light collects inside the cavity and returns warm, casting a glow that feels less like a fixture switching on than a room finding its temperature. A turned wood stem grounds the stone in something grained and living, and the form holds to a single clean gesture throughout.

Over a kitchen island, it turns a working surface into a place people linger. Run two in a staggered line and the conversation settles beneath them, the stone and wood drawing the room toward something considered and calm — the kind of setting guests notice without quite knowing why.

  • Warm, ambient glow that softens a hard or functional space into something welcoming.

  • The disc silhouette reads as quiet sculpture even when unlit — form that holds the room.

  • Natural travertine surface, with open pitting and tonal variation unique to each stone, brings material depth a painted surface cannot.

  • Turned wood detail warms the palette and connects stone to the natural grain of surrounding surfaces.

  • Low, squat proportions sit close to the sightline without dominating it — carries well as a single anchor or in a run of multiples.

The shade is cut from solid travertine; no two pieces share the same surface — the veining, pitting, and tonal shift are each stone's own. The wood stem is solid, turned to shape. Dimensions: Ø 8.3" × H 4.3" (210 × 110 mm). Hardwired installation; professional fitting recommended.

Taro is made to order. From the moment you place your order, the piece is prepared for you — allow a short lead time before dispatch, and it will arrive ready to hang.

Taro belongs in the rooms you want to feel calm rather than lit, over a bedside, a small dining table, or a hallway where it can do quiet work. The squat proportions sit low and unobtrusive, so it grounds a space without dominating the sightline, which is exactly why it carries multiples well over an island or a runner. For a scheme built on natural materials and restraint, it's a fixture that resolves the room rather than competing with it.

HOW A ROOM FEELS

Warm, not bright.

The right light doesn't fill a room, it settles into it. Warm, calm, considered. The kind that makes a space feel like somewhere worth being.

Considered Quality

Made to last.

Every piece is chosen for its material and its form, real materials, exactly what they say they are. These are surfaces that age well, gathering character with time rather than tiring of it. Made to be kept, not replaced.

Frequently asked questions

The range, pendants, wall lights, table lamps, and lamps lamps, each piece chosen for its form, material, and the quality of light it makes.

Bulbs are not always included. This lets you choose the color temperature and brightness that suits your space. Get in touch if you need guidance on the right bulb for a specific fixture.

Warmer tones (2700–3000K) produce soft, inviting light — well suited to living rooms and bedrooms. Cooler tones (4000K and above) are brighter and more energizing, better suited to kitchens and workspaces. Contact us if you'd like a recommendation for a specific room.

Each piece is chosen with material as the first consideration - alabaster, marble, ceramic, brass, wood, ribbed and milk glass. Where safety or longevity calls for a different material, we use it sparingly, but natural materials lead.

Lighting can be returned if unused, uninstalled, and in its original packaging within the timeframe outlined in our policy. Custom or made-to-order fixtures are final sale. Please refer to our returns page for full details.
